Why did you sign up to Race for Zero for Universities and Colleges?

We want the Catholic University to contribute to the discussions of life environment and protection of nature in the global context and point out the fact that also partial solutions can lead to overall improvement.

What have you achieved since joining the Race to Zero for Universities and Colleges? 

We have been participating in Race to Zero and have already realized the following activities:

• we are recycling recyclable materials and other waste
• we made our campus greener (planting bushes and trees, sowing more grass areas...)
• we changed the way of heating (switching from gas on the thermal pumps)
• we focused on the reduction of energy demands (shading windows which led to the reduction of the use of air conditioning)
• we created protection for wastewater by solving septic tanks
• we removed outdated, energy-consuming lamps

How do you lead the transition to a zero balance of emissions? Consider leadership practices and how you engage others to participate in the Race to Zero for Universities and Colleges or other Race to Zero campaigns.

We have prepared basic documents taking into account the goals in the subject area and are fulfilling them:

• Strategy of the Green University project at the Catholic University of Ružomberok
• Action plan of the Green University project
• Project – Green life at the Catholic University of Ružomberok

What challenges have you had?

We started project “Green Life Project on the Catholic University of Ružomberok”
